My Target Audience

My target audience is kind of niche, as it is targeted towards people who suffer from mental health illnesses such as anxiety and depression. This audience seems to be turning into more of a mass group as a lot more people nowadays seem to be diagnosed with mental health related issues.

The age range for my target audience is around the ages of 14-21. This may seem like a large range, however, due to the subject matter and the form of media it is, it's a lot more likely that these age ranges would enjoy/relate to it. The main gender my video is targeted toward are males, hence why I will be using a male actor around the age of the target audience as the main character in the video. The socioeconomic level doesn't matter for this audience as anxiety and depression are things that can affect any group of people at any time in life. The marital status of my target audience is going to be single/unmarried considering the age range of the group. The main psychographic of my target audience is most likely going to be Doomsdayers they are people who do things at their own pace without relying on others for help, a lot like the concept in my video. These people are also very loyal when it comes to people that they trust, however, it's difficult for them to find people to trust. The target audience are going to be very interested in social media, considering their age. This also makes sense since social media is said to be one of the leading causes of mental health issues in young people.

There are a lot of competitors for my target audience as mental health is a largely used subject in music and everyone is keen to see how that is portrayed in the music video. however, due to it being a music video, the competition is lowered slightly as the viewership depends on the music artist's fan base and certain people may not all like the same music.

My USP is going to be the hidden factors in the video. These are going to be actions and object etc, that are going to be relevant if someone was to analyse the video, however, these would stand out and be obvious to people who are able to relate. Also, a lot of anxiety sufferers have their own stories and will see things that others won't and will interpret things differently, therefore creating a larger understanding of the issue.
